PREP Director Jan Jacobowitz Moderates Panel at American Bankruptcy Institute


Lecturer in Law Jan L. Jacobowitz moderated a panel at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 2017 Caribbean Insolvency Symposium. The panel, “Buying and Investing in Bankruptcy Litigation: A New Paradigm,” explored the ethical and statutory issues arising in the use of litigation funding in a bankruptcy practice. Jacobowitz is the Director of the Professional Responsibility and Ethics Program (PREP) at Miami Law. PREP works closely with the South Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association (BBA) and the South Florida bankruptcy judges to provide CLE legal ethics presentations at BBA Brown Bags each year. PREP also contributes an ethics problem to the BBA Annual Retreat.  Jacobowitz writes and speaks throughout the country on topics such as Legal Ethics in Social Media and Advertising, Lawyer’s First Amendment Rights, Cyber Security for Lawyers,  Attorney Fees, and Litigation Funding.
