Steve Maxwell is the Director of the Academic Achievement Program. He earned his J.D. from Barry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in Orlando, Florida. Maxwell graduated magna cum laude, earning ten book awards in law school. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in Economics and another in Spanish from the University of Central Florida.
Prior to law school, Maxwell taught high school students to pass high stakes standardized exams. He taught Economics at the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) levels. His students consistently earned high IB and AP exam passage rates. Each year Maxwell coached the Future Business Leaders of America, his students took top prizes in Florida and placed nationally in the Economics competitions. The local newspaper profiled Maxwell for his unconventional teaching methods designed to reach students with diverse learning preferences.
While in practice, Maxwell was a sole practitioner in his hometown of Cocoa Beach, Florida. He handled civil injunctions for protection as well as wills, trusts, and estates. He was called back to teaching at his alma mater and became the Director of Academic Success at Barry Law. He worked to further student success throughout law school and on the bar exam. In 2018, the University of Florida hired Maxwell to create their inaugural bar preparation program.
