Michelle Pelletier currently works as in-house counsel within the General Counsel’s Organization at American Express, where she provides legal guidance for business clients primarily located in Latin America. She spends her time drafting and negotiating contracts as well as monitoring regulatory developments in the region. Pelletier is a trusted legal advisor who goes beyond giving legal advice to considering broad business implications, utilizing highly developed business acumen to effectively communicate and influence clients.
Pelletier received the GCO Excellence Award in 2015 for her work related to implementation of new payments regulation in Europe. This Award is given on an annual to the to 20 legal performers at American Express globally. She has also been presented with the Chairman’s Award in 2015, 2017 and 2019, which is awarded to the top 3-5% global employees at American Express who achieve exceptional outcomes in their roles.
Pelletier is a summa cum laude graduate of the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University, and a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. She also holds an LL.M. in international business law from the ESADE Law & Business School at the Universidad Ramon Llull in Barcelona, Spain.
Pelletier deeply believes in the power of education and mentoring, having experienced the lasting impact of several important mentors in her life, and she proudly serves as a Board Member for Path to College, a nonprofit organization in Lake Worth, Florida that provides a mentorship and college readiness program for high achieving underprivileged high school students.
In her free time, she enjoys playing the violin, practicing yoga and traveling the world, and she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
