George Bermann is professor of law at Columbia Law School in New York where he holds the Jean Monnet Professoship of EU law and directs the Center for International Commercial and Investment Arbitration. He is an active arbitrator in both international commercial and investor-State disputes.

Professor Bermann was chief reporter of the ALI Restatement of International Commercial and Investment arbitration which was finally approved in May 2019. He is in addition a frequent expert on issues of international litigation and arbitration and EU law before both national courts and international arbitral tribunals, as well as the author of numerous books and articles on private international law and most notably international dispute resolution including arbitration.

Professor Bermann is in addition professeur affilie at the Ecole de droit of the Institute des Sciences Politqiues (Sciences Po) in Paris. He was the editor of the Yale Law Journal and graduated from Yale College as summa cum laude with exceptional distinction in political science.
