Professor Ricardo J. Bascuas teaches in the areas of evidence, criminal procedure, and international criminal law. He created and directs the School of Law's Federal Appellate Clinic, which, in partnership with the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Southern District of Florida, represents indigent defendants before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Professor Bascuas received his B.S. from the University of Miami in 1993 and his J.D. from the Yale Law School in 1996. For the three years prior to his joining the School of Law faculty, Professor Bascuas was an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Miami, representing indigent defendants at both the trial and appellate levels.

Professor Bascuas began his law career practicing civil and criminal law in Miami as an associate at Zuckerman Spaeder, LLP. After leaving the firm, he clerked for United States District Judge Adalberto Jordan.
