On April 21-22, 2022, the University of Miami (UM) School of Law's Human Rights Program hosted a Symposium on Gender Justice and Human Rights: Holistic Approaches to Gender Violence, in collaboration with the Institute for the Advanced Study of the Americas, Miami Law Human Rights Society, U.N. Women, George Washington University Global Women’s Institute (GWI), Lancet Commission on GBV and Maltreatment of Young People, UM International and Comparative Law Review, and UM Inter-American Law Review. It connected local, national, regional, and global perspectives, drawing on innovative work from around the world and delved into four dimensions critical for addressing GBV, including prevention, systemic accountability, access to justice, and protection of survivors, as well as examine lessons and opportunities for practical implementation. The symposium further celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Human Rights Clinic at the University of Miami School of Law and concluded with a celebratory reception.
