Julissa Reynoso is a partner at Winston & Strawn and focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, regulatory enforcement, international arbitration, and cross-border disputes. Julissa recently served as U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra and was the first woman to hold the position. Previously, Julissa served as Assistant to President Joe Biden, Chief of Staff to Dr. Jill Biden, and Co-Chair of the White House Gender Policy Council. She is the former United States Ambassador to Uruguay under the Obama Administration and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Julissa also practiced at Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where she specialized in antitrust law and international commercial and investment arbitration. Born in the Dominican Republic, Julissa is a graduate of Harvard University and Columbia Law School, where she was Editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law. John D. Couriel is the 90th Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Prior to his appointment, he was a partner at Kobre & Kim LLP, where he worked on cross-border disputes and investigations. He was previously an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, an attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, and law clerk to Judge John D. Bates of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and A.B. from Harvard College. About Justice Couriel
Kristen Clarke is the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice. In this role, she leads the Justice Department’s broad federal civil rights enforcement efforts and works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of all who live in America. Assistant Attorney General Clarke is a lifelong civil rights lawyer who has spent her entire career in public service. Assistant Attorney General Clarke began her career as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division through the Department of Justice’s Honors Program. In 2006, she joined the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, where she helped lead the organization’s work in the areas of voting rights and election law across the country. Ms. Clarke worked on cases defending the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act, presented oral argument to the D.C. District Court in Shelby County, Alabama v. He led the successful prosecution of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd. As the People’s Lawyer, Attorney General Ellison’s role is to help Minnesotans live with dignity, safety, and respect. His guiding values are generosity and inclusion. He is the first African American and the first Muslim American to be elected to statewide office in Minnesota. From 2007 to 2019, Ellison represented Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives and was the first African American elected to Congress from Minnesota and the first Muslim to serve in the House or Senate. In this role he championed consumer, worker, environmental, and civil- and human-rights protections for Minnesotans. He served for 12 years on the House Financial Services Committee, where he helped oversee the financial services industry, the housing industry, and Wall Street, among others. Among his legislative accomplishments are passing provisions to protect credit-card holders from abusive practices and protect the rights of renters and tenants. While in Congress, he founded the Congressional Antitrust Caucus and the Congressional Consumer Justice Caucus. He also served as co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which he helped build to more than 100 members.
