University College Dublin Sutherland School of Law (UCD) is the leading center for legal education and research in Ireland. Established in 1911, UCD Law has worked to develop critical understandings of law and enhance interdisciplinary skills. UCD Law works closely with law firms, governmental departments, and NGOs to develop the professional skills of students. UCD Law’s location in Dublin allows students to live in a dynamic city. Located at the head of Dublin Bay of the Irish Sea, Dublin is Ireland’s seat of culture. It is also the center of financial and commercial power in Ireland. Full of interesting activities and opportunities to engage in Irish culture, Dublin is a prime location for all those visiting Ireland.

If you have a disability and require assistance, please inform the International Office well before your arrival. The Disability Support Service (DSS) woks with students requiring additional supports. Students are invited to register with DSS as early as possible. Most law modules are available to incoming exchange students. There is also the possibility of enrolling in a module from another school. UCD Law exchange students can take less than six modules if they have permission from their home university. For more information on available law modules, please visit this link.
Students may not transfer foreign language or other non-law courses taken at the partner exchange school back to Miami Law for J.D. credit. If a student enrolls in such courses, they understand they are for self-interest only and will not be considered for transfer towards their J.D. degree.
University College Dublin Law offers on-campus accommodations for students. Information on accommodation application dates will be sent directly to students once UCD Residences confirms details. All students who wish to live on campus must directly apply through UCD Residences Office using SISWeb. On-campus accommodations are not guaranteed. Exchange students may also live off campus. Students may get assistance from the Residences Office to find off-campus accommodations. Students participating in Miami Law’s semester abroad program will pay regular full-time Miami Law tuition for the semester that they study abroad. During the semester abroad, University of Miami on-campus fees will not be charged. Students generally will not owe tuition to a partner exchange school while studying abroad through Miami Law’s International Exchange Programs, as long as they stay within the host institution’s credit limits (if applicable). Some administrative fees may apply. Miami Law exchange students pay their regular Miami Law J.D. tuition for the exchange semester to the University of Miami. The living expenses will vary depending on the exchange student preferences.
