Full day program with experts in changes in local practice and earns CLE credits
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (May 17, 2016) – The University of Miami School of Law provides a unique look into navigating consumer bankruptcies in the United State Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida at the 26th Annual Bankruptcy Skills Workshop on Friday, June 3rd at the Storer Auditorium at the University of Miami School of Business Administration, 5250 University Drive, Coral Gables.
This year’s “How to Basics” full-day program is ideal for both seasoned practitioners and those new to the field, and includes panels from the perspective of a Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 trustee; the view from the bankruptcy judges’ standpoint; practice and procedures by the clerk of the court; case analysis; and ethical dilemmas.
"The workshop is an outstanding opportunity for practitioners paralegals and judicial assistants to become familiar with Bankruptcy Court operations and procedures," said A. Jay Cristol, Chief Judge Emeritus United States Bankruptcy Court Southern District of Florida Miami Division.
Discussions and presentations by U.S. Bankruptcy Judges, Clerk of Court, U.S. Chapter 7 & 13 Trustees, Ethics Panel, Staff Counsel for the FL Bar, and seasoned debtor and creditor counsel will be presented between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
"It is an outstanding nuts and bolts program for Southern District of Florida practitioners,” said Jerry M. Markowitz of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog.
Parking is available at the Pavia Garage, accessible through the main gate of UM at Ponce de Leon Blvd. and Stanford Drive.
Registration fees support the Louis Phillips Scholarship Fund at the UM School of Law. Course materials, lunch, and parking are included in the cost of registration. Registration is $320; discounts apply for UM alumni and government employees. Participation includes 7.5 Florida Bar-approved CLE credits, including 1 in ethics.
