Human Rights Clinic Director Caroline Bettinger-Lopez Participates in Domestic Violence Lecture in Ireland


Professor Caroline Bettinger-Lopez, Director of Miami Law's Human Rights Clinic, recently traveled to Ireland to participate in a video screening and public lecture at the Huston School of Film and Digital Media with the Global Women's Studies Centre. The video screening of "Human Rights Advocacy, Media and Domestic Violence: The Story of Jessica Lenahan (Gonzales)" was followed by a public discussion on domestic violence and human rights. Bettinger-Lopez was also interviewed for an article about human rights in the Irish Independent. Professor Bettinger-Lopez's scholarship, advocacy, and teaching focus on international human rights law and advocacy, including the implementation of human rights norms at the domestic level. Her main regional focus is the United States and Latin America, and her principal areas of interest include violence against women, gender and race discrimination, immigrants' rights, and clinical legal education.
