In 2013, Jaret L. Davis, JD ’99, Immediate Past President of the Law Alumni Association, introduced the Coffee Connectors Network, a new initiative to promote a more practical approach to foster one-on-one interactions between Miami Law alumni and law students.

How is this Different from a Mentoring Program?

This program is unique in that it is NOT a traditional mentoring program. Instead, this is a ‘connector initiative’ to infuse law students into various practices and geographic locations. Alumni involvement may be as simple as forwarding a resume to a colleague who may be in the market to hire a young lawyer, discussing your work or enjoying a cup of coffee for 20 minutes with a student to give him/her some tips and/or referrals to contact.

Whether you graduated last year or many years ago, you probably remember that making the transition from law student to attorney can be a daunting process. Miami Law’s students and recent graduates seek opportunities to speak with practicing attorneys to learn about different practice areas and gain a better understanding of various legal communities.
