Exchange Program with ESADE Law School Spain

University of Miami School of Law offers an exchange with ESADE (Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas) in Barcelona, Spain. This exchange enables two Miami Law students to attend ESADE, one of the best business schools in Europe, for one semester. Courses are in Spanish.

About ESADE

Established in 1958, ESADE has a reputation and is ranked as one of the best business schools in the world. Its law school has an international focus and emphasizes economics, business and technology.

About Barcelona

Barcelona, one of Europe's leading cities, is located between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, in Spain's northeastern corner, near the French border. Boasting a host of cultural activities and architectural treasures by Gaudi, Barcelona is one of the most dynamic, cosmopolitan cities in the world.

Tuition and Housing

  • Incoming exchange students: pay tuition to their home school, and required student health insurance and University fees to the University of Miami.
  • Outgoing Miami Law students: pay tuition and other required fees to the University of Miami School of Law. Miami Law students pay no tuition or fees to the partner school except for certain social events and discretionary fees.

Application

UM Law will select the two most qualified students to propose to ESADE each academic year. ESADE will make the final decision on admission. To apply, please provide:

  • A short letter (1-2 pages) stating the reasons for interest;
  • A listing of significant international experience (growing up in a foreign country, work in the Peace Corps, the military or business, studying for a semester or more abroad), and/or extensive academic training in international relations, international business, area studies, or related fields;
  • A copy of one’s CV; and
  • Law school GPA and grades in relevant courses, or a copy of law school transcript.
