Switching Programs

All students are required to choose one Summer Abroad Program.  Due to considerations involving logistics, planning, preparation course material, deposits, etc., there will be no program switching after the March 30th deadline.

Early Arrival

Unless you’ve made previous hotel arrangements, it is not necessary to arrive earlier than the Tour of Spain and Portugal commencement date, June 10, 2007.  Pre-night stays in single room accommodations at your own expense at a hotel in the Tour of Spain and Portugal can be costly.

Hotel Bookings

All hotel arrangements provided by Contiki Holidays are subject to availability.  If required, hotels of similar quality will be substituted.

Enrollment

Enrollment in the 2007 Tour of Spain and Portugal is limited.  Students will be accepted with deposit(s) received on a first-come, first-serve basis.  In 2006 out of 27 participants 15 students from 10 law schools other than the University of Miami School of Law participated.  With the addition of Portugal to our program, expected enrollment for 2007 is 40 students.

Cancellation or Termination of Program

The 2007 Tour of Spain and Portugal is being offered subject to change or cancellation by the University of Miami School of Law depending on sufficient enrollment and availability of faculty members.  If cancellation of the 2007 Tour of Spain and Portugal occurs after a deposit has been paid, the program director will use his best efforts to make arrangements for each student enrolled to attend a similar program, if the student so desires.  If the 2007 Tour of Spain and Portugal is cancelled for any reason, all monies advanced by the student will be refunded within twenty-one days after the date of cancellation.

All courses are being offered subject to change or cancellation by the University of Miami School of Law depending on sufficient enrollment and availability of faculty members.

Payment Schedule

A non-refundable registration fee of $250 and a tuition deposit of $300, the latter to be credited against Tuition, Activities Fee, and Related Expenses total cost of $3,150 must be received with the application by March 30, 2007.  For those students not applying for financial aid, there will be two installments for the remaining cost of the program of $6,000 (amount due after the registration fee and initial $300 tuition deposit). The first installment in the amount of $3,000 must be received by April 13, 2007.  The second installment or final payment in the amount of $3,000 must be received by May 18, 2007.  Payments are to be made by check or money order payable to “University of Miami School of Law”.

Payments are deferred for students applying for financial aid until loan checks become available (around early June) at which time full payment must be made by all participants.

Students are able to make payments with their credit card on the EASY system.  The University of Miami charges a fee of 2.5% on the amount processed for this service.  This fee applies to all credit card payments for tuition and housing.  Payments are deferred for students applying for financial aid until loan checks become available (around early June) at which time full payment must be made.

Applications for financial aid must be fully completed before the end of March to ensure timely disbursements of funds.  All visiting students will be responsible to ensure that financial aid disbursements for tuition and housing from their home school are paid to the University of Miami School of Law before commencement of the 2007 Tour of Spain and Portugal.  There will be a $100 penalty fee for late payment.  Payments received will be refundable only if an applicant is for any reason refused admission or if a course offering is changed or cancelled.

All cancellations must be made in writing via email at summerabroad@law.miami.edu or by fax to our Summer Abroad Programs Office at (305) 284-6506.
