GREECE
City: Athens is the cradle of the Western civilization, the origin of drama and history and philosophy, and the birthplace of democracy. Let us not forget also the Olympic Games, with their spirit of world-peace and brotherhood, first conceived and organized by the Greeks; or the Greek language which has enriched other languages with so many words and concepts like philanthropy, harmony, techne, sophistication, architecture, ecology and thousands of others. Nor is it simply the lure of history that brings foreign travelers to the Greek capital. Modern Athens is a vibrant city with great appeal and charm. It is still one of the safest and most affordable cities in the world (the least expensive capital in Europe, according to EUROSTAT, the official EU statistical publication), as well as one of the most beautiful, hospitable and exciting.
Accommodations and classroom: The Athens Acropol Hotel and/or the Omonia Grand Hotel are both superior first class European-style hotels owned by Grecotel Corp. They are located in central Athens about 40 km (24 miles) from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. The two hotels are located across the street from each other within a short walk from centrally located Omonia Square, one of the most famous landmarks in Athens, in the heart of the business and shopping district. The hotels are also within walking distance of the Acropolis, the Old City (Plaka) and most of Athens archaeological sights and attractions.
Both hotels have excellent facilities and comfortable guest rooms and public areas. City: Mykonos is one of the most famous islands in the Aegean. It is no coincidence that this, the most cosmopolitan of all Greek islands, attracts so many visitors from al over the globe, including large numbers of artists and intellectuals. Mykonos has the reputation of having one of the most sophisticated nightlife in Greece and the Mediterranean. It is also an island which offers beautiful landscapes, picturesque white painted villages, hundreds of little churches, windmills and one of the most extraordinary golden sandy beaches in the Cyclades. Mykonos is a busy island with all the amenities of a modern resort and with plenty to do—by day or night—for those who want to have a lively time. Yet visitors fond of a more peaceful atmosphere will still find quiet corners in which to relax.

City: Corfu. Corfu (Korfu), one of the most beautiful Greek islands, is called Kérkyra (Kerkira, Korkyra) as well. It is the most important and most northerly of the Ionian Islands, lying off the coasts of Albania and the Greek region of Epirus. Modern Corfu Town is upbeat and cosmopolitan, offering an exciting conglomeration of Greek, Italian, French and British influences. The old town was laid out by the Venetians in the 14th century and features narrow alleys lined with multi-storied pastel-colored buildings with red tiled roofs, creating a scene reminiscent of Italy. The hub of activity in the town centre is the Liston, an arcaded row of cafes and restaurants, copied from the Rue de Rivoli in Paris.

SPAIN
City: Barcelona. Barcelona is the historical capital of Catalonia and Spain’s second-ranking city in both size and importance after Madrid. Its port is one of the most important on the Mediterranean Sea. The city, exceptionally vibrant and beautiful, has an impressive architectural heritage that includes the Gothic Quarter with its cathedral, the old City Hall, the Episcopal Palace, and
the splendid palace of the Generalitat, the site of the Catalonian Government. The city also boasts the work of the incomparable modernist architect Antonio Gaudí, who graced Barcelona with the better share of his many works of exceptional genius. Among them are the unfinished Church of the Sacred Family, the Guell Park, the Batllo Home and the Mila Home, all of them declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Barcelona also has many museums, two of which are the Picasso Museum and the National Gallery of Catalonian Art.
Accommodations and classrooms: Housing in single occupancy apartments will be arranged through RESA [Residencias de Estudiantes, S.A.], the residence halls for Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and operator of over 40 university residence halls throughout Europe. The residence’s self-contained apartments, which are very new, are located extremely close to UPF where classes will be taught. Each apartment is equipped with an individual bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, direct telephone, and access to all common services in the hall of residences. The RESA residence halls are located near the Mediterranean and benefit from the ocean breeze; students apartments, like most residences in Barcelona, are not air-conditioned.
