2007 London Summer Program

Overview

The University of Miami School of Law proudly announces its 2007 London Summer Program, an exciting seven-and-a-half week summer study program presented at Bentham House, the Faculty of Laws building of University College London (UCL).  Located centrally in the Bloomsbury district of London, UCL offers an ideal living and learning experience for the study of law abroad.  In 2006, 35 students in the first session and 75 students in the second session from all over the United States participated in the London Summer Program.  Of these students, a combined total of forty-five were from fifteen law schools other than the University of Miami School of Law.  Students from over 120 different law schools have attended previous programs in London over the last fifteen years.  It is anticipated that 2007 enrollment will be approximately 40 in the first session and 80 students in the second session.

The 2007 London Summer Program will begin on June 10 and end on August 1, 2007.  Courses will be taught by members of the faculty of law from the University of Miami School of Law, University of Westminster, Oxford University and distinguished universities in the United Kingdom.  Each student will enroll in a required two-credit course from June 11-29 and enroll in two courses from an offering of four two-credit courses from July 9-August 1 for a total of six credits and will participate in many exciting and informative excursions.

Single room accommodations in eight bedroom self-catered flats, each bedroom having its own bathroom, are provided in Frances Gardner House residential hall, a modern UCL dormitory.  Frances Gardner House is located on Wren Street off Gray’s Inn Road in Central London, approximately a twenty-minute walk from the UCL Faculty of Laws school building.

The London Summer Program is one of the best located, most comprehensive and most inclusive summer abroad program.  An exciting array of special events and guided tours are included at program expense.

A ten-day break period is scheduled during which students may take advantage of an Italy Optional Trip presented by Contiki Holidays, the world’s largest travel company for 18 to 35 year olds, or travel to European destinations on their own.  In 2006, nearly 50 students enjoyed the Italy Optional Trip to Rome / Assisi / Siena / San Gimignano / Florence / Pisa / Cinque Terre / La Spezia / Verona / Venice.
