Overview

The European Adventure commences upon arrival in Athens (5 nights) on Sunday, June 10, 2007.  An orientation meeting is scheduled for June 11, 2007, followed by the first day of classes.  A legal sightseeing tour of Ancient Athens taking in such sites as the Temple of Zeus, the first Olympic Stadium and entrance to the Acropolis is scheduled in the morning followed by class in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 12.  Class is scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 13, and in the afternoon we meet our local guide for an excursion to the countryside including a visit to Cape Sounion. The last day of class in Athens is Thursday morning, June 14.  That afternoon Contiki Holidays will present an optional excursion from Athens to Corinth, Mycenae, Napflion with return to Athens late evening.  Early the next morning we leave Athens to embark on a ferry from Piraeus or Rafina Port in Athens to the island of Mykonos.  Classes will be conducted the next three days in Mykonos at the Contiki Mykonos Resort.  Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in the morning we transfer to the ferry port in Mykonos and board the hydrofoil to Piraeus Port on mainland Greece.  From there the European Adventure will continue via modern air-conditioned coach for a morning guided tour and overnight in Delphi.  The next morning Wednesday, June 20, 2007, we arrive in Olympia for one night where we visit the Archaeological Museum and Olympic Stadium.  On Thursday, June 21, we travel to Corfu for two more class days, Friday, June 22, and Sunday, June 24. The exam will be given on Monday, June 25.  That evening we take an overnight ferry to Bari and on to Sorrento where we will stay for two nights. We will explore this cliff-top resort with its view of the Bay of Naples with an excursion, Wednesday, June 27, 2007, to the Isle of Capri.  Next it is on to Pompeii before our final overnight stop just outside of Rome. Accommodations, transportation and sightseeing aspects of the Athens/ Mykonos/ Delphi/Olympia/Corfu/Sorrento/Isle of Capri/ Pompeii, ending at Rome of the European Adventure are being arranged by Contiki Holidays, the world’s largest travel company for 18-35 year olds.

In London, single room accommodations in eight bedroom self-catered flats, each bedroom having its own bathroom, are provided in Frances Gardner House residential hall, a modern UCL dormitory.  Frances Gardner House is located on Wren Street off Gray’s Inn Road in Central London, approximately a twenty-minute walk from the UCL Faculty of Laws school building where classes will be taught.

In 2006, 116 students explored Greece and Italy. Of these students, sixty were from thirty-four law schools other than the University of Miami School of Law.  It is anticipated that in 2007 approximately 120 students will tour Greece and Italy while in total roughly eighty students will explore London.
