Mission Statement
Today, the Maritime Law Society is dedicated to educating its members in the field of maritime law as well as to support the area’s maritime community. Each year the society sponsors the “Meet the Admiralty Bar” cocktail party, schedules speakers to discuss issues of maritime law, publishes the “Proctor-in-Admiralty” and coordinates the charitable “Gotta Regatta”. These activities are designed to keep an open dialogue with the legal and local community. This interaction aids in the development of students who seek to practice maritime law by enabling them to become aware of issues that face attorneys and people they will potentially represent. Awareness such as this has made the Maritime Law Society attractive to employers and indeed many maritime attorneys throughout United States have been members of the Maritime Law Society.
