Welcome to the website of the University of Miami School of Law’s Charles C. Papy Jr. Moot Court Board. As the oldest, largest, and most prestigious advocacy program at UM Law, the Board prides itself in recruiting and training some of the finest oral and written advocates in the country. In furtherance of this goal, as an honorary organization the Board limits its membership to only the top 7% of first and second year classes. In addition to academic credentials, membership on the Board is primarily based on performance in the John T. Gaubatz 1L competition, an event which regularly attracts over 250 first year students in the spring semester of each year.

A leading national Moot Court program, the Charles C. Papy Jr. Moot Court Board finished the 2007-2008 year with an outstanding record of success, including two national competition victories, 3 best oral advocate awards, a best brief award, and teams that advanced to the quarter-final, semi-final, and final rounds of 8 regional and national competitions.

This year, in addition to building on this legacy of interschool achievement, the Board will host the annual Mock Trial, Negotiation, fall and spring C. Clyde Atkins Advanced Moot Court competitions, as well as the Gaubatz 1L competition. Furthermore, the Board will host the American Bar Association’s 2008 Regional Negotiation Competition.

With the support of the University of Miami School of Law as well as local and national alumni, the Charles C. Papy Jr. Moot Court Board will continue to encourage excellence in oral and written advocacy on campus and around the nation in the 2008-2009 year.

Sincerely,

Christopher Pizzo
President
