Labor & Employment Law Student Association
Welcome to the LELA website and thank you for you interest in our organization. LELA is dedicated to building a bridge between students and the legal community. Please refer to the links for more information. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at umlela@gmail.com. You can also come by the LELA office located in the student organization wing (2nd floor above Subway).
Labor and Employment Law is one of the largest areas of today’s legal practice. LELA is your link to information that matters to this ever-growing field. This field of practice includes pressing issues like sexual harassment, internet and email privacy, wrongful termination, workman’s compensation, collective bargaining, religious freedom, and much more. The purpose of LELA is to inform the student body about all aspects of the field of labor and employment law including career opportunities, networking with alumni and to provide a forum for ideas in labor and employment.
Our members represent all perspectives of labor and employment law: employer, union, employee, public, and neutral. We are committed to a balanced discussion of employment issues in the United States and abroad. Membership is open to all law students at the University of Miami and we welcome all students and faculty to participate in our events.
