Timothy Moore: Summer Intern for U.S. Court of Appeals
Timothy Moore spent the summer in Providence, Rhode Island, where he interned for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Timothy was one of three law students interning for Circuit Judge Bruce Selya and as the only rising third-year intern, Timothy was given tasks typically assigned to the judge's clerks. For instance, Timothy had the opportunity to draft three opinions; one on healthcare in Puerto Rican prisons, another on a police officer's continuing duty to investigate, and the third on Double Jeopardy and sua sponte declaration of mistrials.
After completing his first year of law school, Timothy interned at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida for Magistrate Judge Barry Seltzer, followed by an internship with Pacific Legal Foundation during his second year. This fall, Timothy has a clinical placement with the State Attorney's Office in Miami and he is working on obtaining a federal judicial clerkship after graduation. During his final year at UM, Timothy will also serve as Editor-in-Chief of the International and Comparative Law Review. "Law review has been a great experience and I've been blessed with a great staff. Being Editor-in-Chief is similar to running a small business and it's allotted me the opportunity to develop some new skills, such as budget and subscription management." In addition to his responsibilities for law review, Timothy will serve on the International Moot Court Board as the Jessup Competition Chair.
Timothy was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Florida when he was in high school. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2002 with a major in philosophy and a minor in political science. During college he was a senator in student government and president of the philosophy club. In his free time, Timothy's hobby is music. He is a cellist of twelve years and a bass guitarist of ten years.
