
Kendra graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2002 where she sat on the Moot Court Board. After law school, Kendra served as Assistant General Counsel to the Florida Department of Transportation and then worked on product liability litigation at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP in Washington, DC. A native of New Jersey and raised in Florida, Melissa Kuipers graduated from Florida State University in 2002 with a double major in Political Science and Social Science. During her undergraduate work, Melissa worked in the Florida Legislature in various capacities as an intern, legislative assistant, and lobbyist as she pursued her passion for public policy. In 2005, Melissa graduated from the University of Miami School of Law where she served as an Student Bar Association Senator and Editor-in-Chief of the Res Ipsa Loquitur. After practicing law in Miami, Melissa relocated to Denver, Colorado in 2007 to pursue a career in government affairs and lobbying. For the last two years, Melissa has worked for the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association as Vice President of Government Relations and Communications. Melissa was recently honored as one of the Denver Business Journal's "Top Forty Under 40" for her commitment to her career and community. Listen to Audio

Garrett Barten, JD '08 is a Registered Patent Attorney with Christopher & Weisberg, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, the District of Columbia, New York and Pennsylvania and devotes a large portion of his practice to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the medical device, life science, and mechanical areas. He speaks about what makes the University of Miami unique and his transition from a graduate student in Biological Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY to the study of Law at the University of Miami. Myles Cochran, JD'03 is an associate with Much Shelist in Chicago, IL where he is an experienced transactional attorney with a focus on commercial real estate matters. Coming from Iowa, the cultural diversity of Miami (the school and the city), was very appealing to Cochran.
