Kendra Briggs, J.D. '02

Kendra graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2002 where she sat on the Moot Court Board. After law school, Kendra served as Assistant General Counsel to the Florida Department of Transportation and then worked on product liability litigation at Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP in Washington, DC. Sherry Williams, J.D. '95

Assistant Director of Student Recruiting Alex Schultes interviews Sherry Williams, Senior Vice President and Corporate Secretary at Halliburton, one of the world's largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. Williams discusses her role as a top corporate officer in which she directly assists the CEO in management of board issues and corporate governance at company that offers the world's broadest array of products and services for oil and gas exploration, development and production. Melissa Kuipers, JD '05

A native of New Jersey and raised in Florida, Melissa Kuipers graduated from Florida State University in 2002 with a double major in Political Science and Social Science. During her undergraduate work, Melissa worked in the Florida Legislature in various capacities as an intern, legislative assistant, and lobbyist as she pursued her passion for public policy. In 2005, Melissa graduated from the University of Miami School of Law where she served as an Student Bar Association Senator and Editor-in-Chief of the Res Ipsa Loquitur. After practicing law in Miami, Melissa relocated to Denver, Colorado in 2007 to pursue a career in government affairs and lobbying. For the last two years, Melissa has worked for the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association as Vice President of Government Relations and Communications. Melissa was recently honored as one of the Denver Business Journal's "Top Forty Under 40" for her commitment to her career and community. Listen to Audio

Greg Mayback, J.D. '92, is an expert in patent law and intellectual property. He was recently featured in Super Lawyers magazine in an article that highlights how Mayback merged his passion for engineering into this top legal specialty. Read More

Garrett Barten

Garrett Barten, JD '08 is a Registered Patent Attorney with Christopher & Weisberg, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is licensed to practice law in Florida, the District of Columbia, New York and Pennsylvania and devotes a large portion of his practice to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the medical device, life science, and mechanical areas. He speaks about what makes the University of Miami unique and his transition from a graduate student in Biological Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY to the study of Law at the University of Miami. Myles Cochran, JD '03

Myles Cochran, JD'03 is an associate with Much Shelist in Chicago, IL where he is an experienced transactional attorney with a focus on commercial real estate matters. Coming from Iowa, the cultural diversity of Miami (the school and the city), was very appealing to Cochran. Here he speaks about his practice, and some of the programs (Litigation Skills and HOPE) that have been important to him as a Miami Law student and graduate. Watch Video

Adrian Azer, JD '03

Adrian Azer, is an associate at Milbank Tweed Hadley McCloy, LLP, a leading international financial services law firm with offices in D.C., L.A. and N.Y. and eight key geographic cities throughout the world. Mr. Azer practices in the D.C. Office. Azer speaks about his path to his current position, his practice as a litigator, why he chose Miami, and he gives a few pointers on how to succeed and how Miami helped him. Watch Video

Brooke Adams, JD '05

Brooke Adams is an associate in D.C. at Goodwin Procter in the Business Law Department. She is a member of the Private Equity Group and has experience with a variety of corporate transactions, including private equity, equity and debt financings and other general corporate, governance and securities law matters. Adams speaks about the support and guidance of Miami professors and alumni in her career choices and the importance of extracurricular activities in her career development. Watch Video

Guillermo Levy, JD '00 and Gabriela Lanza, LLM '04
