After completing her B.A. in history from The University of Texas in 1999 and graduating as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Professor Pelz earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 2003.
While in law school, she was a Miami Scholar, a member of the Order of the Coif and received a Florida Bar Foundation Children and Youth Law Fellowship. She was also the Supervising Dean's Fellow for the University of Miami Law Writing Center.
From 2003 to 2006, Professor Pelz served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. At the Office of the Public Defender, she managed a caseload of over one hundred clients and defended misdemeanor, juvenile, and felony trials.
She has taught At Miami Law since 2006.
