This year's final round was judged by some of South Florida's most prominent legal figures. The presiding judge was the Honorable Andrew S. Hague, who is currently in the Civil Division of the County Court of the 11th Judicial District of Florida. Also judging this year's final competitors were former Florida Bar President, Mr. Tod Aronvitz, JD '74, who specializes in complex civil litigation, and University of Miami Adjunct Professor Milton Hirsch, a prominent criminal defense attorney.
The competition began with 15 teams and consisted of several rounds during late October and November 2007. Each team tried the entire case at least once as both prosecution and defense. This year's problem involved an informant for the Drug Enforcement Agency and his alleged side cocaine deal while working for the agency. The competition ran over the course of two weeks, and was judged at all levels by local attorneys and judges.
