Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board Announces Winners
The Charles C. Papy, Jr. Moot Court Board Negotiation Competition, which began on Saturday, September 15, concluded with its Final Round on Thursday, September 20. 2L Jane Muir and 3L Alan Grinberg competed against John Leinicke and David Ledyard-Marks, both second year law students, in an impressive negotiation in front of an esteemed panel of judges. Judge Judith Kreeger returned this year to judge the Final Round as she has in many years past. Paula Phillips, a former Moot Court Board member and representative at the Regional Negotiation Competition also returned to judge for the 10th year in a row. New to the panel this year was Mark Solov, a shareholder at Stearns Weaver Miller, and Oliver Langstadt, a Florida Supreme Court mediator and partner at Langstadt Pauly.
Thanks to a generous gift from the law firm of Duane Morris, LLP and its senior partners, the finalists in this year’s Negotiation Competition were awarded prize money beyond what has been awarded in the past. The first place team received $2500 to split, and the finalists received $1500 to share. While all competitors throughout the competition were impressive, it was John Leinicke and David Ledyard-Marks who ultimately were announced the winners.
