Constitution Day is observed annually on September 17th to spread awareness and educate each generation about the U.S. Constitution.  Written in 1787 and ratified in 1789, the U.S. Constitution is the oldest national Constitution still in use.  Join Professor Michael Froomkin (Faculty, UM School of Law), Professor Mario Barnes (Faculty, UM School of Law), and Randall Marshall (Legal Director, American Civil Liberties Union of Florida) in an interactive discussion on the following topics:

  • Signing statements in the context of the president's duty to manage the bureaucracy;
  • The role of AUMF (Authorization for Use of Military Force) as a foundation for modern claims of Presidential power.

The interactive panel discussion will be held on Monday, September 17 at 7:00pm in Eaton Residential College, Apartment 104.  If you are interested in Constitution Day and want more information, please contact Whitney Bloom at wbloom@miami.edu.
