On Wednesday, September 5th, 2007, UM Law School Professor Patrick O. Gudridge presented a paper to the UM Law School faculty, entitled: "Complexity and Contradiction in Florida Constitutional Law."

In this paper, Professor Gudridge discusses judicial restrictions imposed by the Florida Supreme Court on the Florida Constitution's amendment processes. Contrary to critics of this jurisprudence, he argues that the Court's lines of thought fit well together, and that their substance and purpose is explainable not so much as an effort to address the vagaries of legislative and electoral decision-making, but instead as a response to underlying complexities of constitutional organization confronting all constitutional interpreters.
