
UM Law School Professors David Abraham and Bruce J. Winick Speak at the Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association
UM Law Professors David Abraham and Bruce Winick participated in the 102nd Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association, which took place in New York on August 11-14, 2007. The theme for this year’s conference was : Is Another World Possible? Sociological Perspectives on Contemporary Politics.
Professor Abraham took part in a panel entitled “Empire’s Law,” presenting a paper entitled “The Bush Regime as Authoritarian State.” Professor Winick spoke in a panel entitled “Between Punishment and Cure: The Crisis of Mental Illness in the Criminal Justice System,” and his paper was entitled “Therapeutic Jurisprudence and Mental Health Courts.”
