UM Law School Professor Ricardo J. Bascuas, along with co-counsel David O. Markus, filed a lawsuit in federal court on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, on behalf of Advanced Consulting and Marketing, a company that broadcasts cockfights on the internet.


The lawsuit challenges a 1999 federal statute that makes it a crime to sell depictions of animal cruelty for commercial gain. The New York Times reported this morning on the controversy, and the article can be accessed below. To read the complaint, click here.
