The Black Law Students Association's 36th Annual Southern Regional Convention, sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, will be held in Miami, Florida, January 17-21, 2007 at the newly renovated Radisson Hotel Miami located in the heart of downtown Miami’s new Art District. The University of Miami School of Law and St Thomas University School of Law are co-hosting the convention and will co-sponsor the Welcome Reception.


This convention is shaping up to be one of the largest and most successful conventions in the region's history. Over 350 students are currently registered and a significant number of Moot Court teams will participate in competitions throughout the weekend. The convention will feature Panel/Seminars on Entertainment Law, Making the Transition from Classroom to Professional Life, Solo Practioners, and Reparations, led by professionals from BET and Estefan Enterprises, Greenberg Traurig, Shutts & Bowen and more.  Students will have a great opportunity to network with professionals at the Bilzin Sumberg Law Firm Networking Reception and the convention will be capped off with the Annual Awards and Banquet Gala.  The dinner will feature Professor D. Q. Cochran from the Cumberland School of Law as the keynote speaker.

The National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) is a national organization designed to articulate and promote the professional needs and goals of Black law students. As the largest student run organization in the country, NBLSA encourages the development of talented, socially conscious, lawyers of tomorrow. NBLSA is comprised of six regions, representing over 6000 members across the nation with chapters at almost every accredited law school in the country. The Southern Region is that largest of these regions consisting of 9 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
