Winners of the 2006 C. Clyde Atkins Fall Advanced Moot Court Competition Announced
The Moot Court Competition is the culmination of the Fall Advanced Moot Court Seminar which is coordinated by the Moot Court Board and co-taught by attorney Harvey Sepler JD '84 and Moot Court VP Mary Pashalidis. Competitors were evaluated by local attorneys based on their level of excellence in written and oral advocacy, through participation in oral argument and submission of a written brief.
The final round was judged by a distinguished panel of judges and attorneys consisting of U.S. District Court Judge Adalberto Jordan, U.S. Magistrate Judge John J. O'Sullivan, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judges Robert A. Mark and Laurel Myerson Isicoff, and UM Law Adjunct Professor and criminal defense Milton Hirsch JD '82.
Kristy Militello was awarded a much deserved Best Oralist and Josh Rubens was voted the Kurt Marmar Award recipient as the most well-rounded and sportsman-like competitor. The top eight competitors have qualified to represent the Board and Law School in the State Moot Court Competition or the State Workers' Compensation Competition. Further, all second year students who placed within the top twenty percent of the class are now eligible for Moot Court Board candidacy.
