In a four-day celebration chock-full of fun, enlightenment, and caloric entertainment, Miami Law's Homecoming Weekend was bestowed with blue skies, starlit nights, perfect Miami fall temperatures and was presided over by Jaret L. Davis, J.D.'99, President of the Law Alumni Association (LAA) and Joshua B. Spector, J.D.'02, LAA Chair of Homecoming and Vice President for Activities.

Homecoming festivities kicked-off on Wednesday with the 4th Annual Law Alumni Association Homecoming Golf Tournament. Under the leadership of Tod Aronovitz, J.D.'74, an adjunct professor and Past President of the Florida Bar and Law Alumni Association and Co-Chairs Elizabeth B. Honkonen, J.D.'98, Past President, Law Alumni Association, and Richard A. Hamar, J.D.'70, the golf tournament was a resounding success, with $40,000 raised toward the Paul T. Dee Endowed Scholarship at Miami Law.

On Thursday evening, Professor Terence J. Anderson was feted in celebration of his retirement and in recognition of his dedication to teaching and the legal profession. Attendees cut a rug on the Bricks to the music of the Remaindermen, made up of alumni Tucker Ronzetti, J.D.'92, on guitar, Jeff Lapin, J.D.'93, on bass guitar, John Keller J.D.'92, on keyboards, Jonathan David, J.D.'91, on horns, drums with Jason Bloch, J.D.'03, and Dona Piza on guitar. The event was sponsored by the LAA.

Friday started with a breakfast CLE Seminar hosted by the LAA titled "Mindfulness and Multitasking: Maintaining Focus, Efficiency and Contentment in a Fast-Paced World" featuring Scott Rogers, Director of Miami Law's Mindfulness in Law Program and Raquel Matas, Associate Dean for Administration in the Alma Jennings Foundation Student Lounge.

A lunch offering at The Audrey R. Finkelstein UM Experience featured Professor Rebecca Sharpless, Director of Miami Law's Immigration Clinic. Her lecture on "The Promises and Pitfalls of Immigration Reform" was held at the new Student Activities Center.

Reunion receptions for the classes of 1983, 1988, 1993, and 2003 were held at The Lowe Art Museum Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The 1973 Class Reunion reception was sponsored by Stuart Z. Grossman and held at his beautiful home.

Many homecoming celebrants also attended the Hurricane Howl, the parade, pep rally, boat burning, fireworks, and concert held Friday night.

Saturday morning started early with the 65th Annual "Morning Spirits" and Homecoming Breakfast in honor of the judiciary, elected officials, and reunion classes at the Newman Alumni Center with featured speaker Jim LarraƱaga, Head Coach of the University of Miami Men's Basketball team.

During the ceremony several alumni were honored, including Elizabeth B. Honkonen, J.D.'98, Kenny Nachwalter, P.A., and Jerry M. Markowitz, J.D.'74, with the Thomas Davison, III Memorial Service Award. The Henry "Lat" Latimer Leadership and Professionalism Award was given to The Honorable Federico A. Moreno, J.D. '78, Chief Judge of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida. Jenna Winchester, SBA President, was given the Joseph H. Bogosian Student Leadership Award. The Past President's Award was bestowed on Devang Desai, J.D.'03. TotalBank sponsored the breakfast.

Homecoming weekend culminated with the 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday of the University of Miami 'Canes vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies football game.
