Society Presents Current Issues In Entertainment, Sports Law

Representatives of the Miami Heat, the Miami Dolphins, and the Florida Wrestling Commission will join in a discussion of "Ethics in Sports" to kick off the Second Annual Seminar of UM Law's Entertainment & Sports Law Society at 4:30 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 25, at the Law School. The UM Law Center for Ethics & Public Service will host the panel.

The following day, the seminar will feature speakers from the WNBA, ESPN, Disney Sports, Warner Brothers Publishing, the Sports Lawyers Association, the ABA's and Florida Bar's entertainment and sports law committees, Florida Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and local law firms.

Friday's panels include:

  • 2:00 - 3:15 p.m. Breaking Barriers: A Primer for Law Students

  • 3:30 - 5:15 p.m. Concurrent Panels:

  • Current Issues in Sports

  • The ABCs of Entertainment Practice

  • 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. The Business of Sports in Broadcast Media

  • 7 p.m. Dinner and reception

All students and attorneys are welcome. There is no charge for the event, which offers five hours of Continuing Legal Education credits (including one hour for ethics).
