How can U get involved with Homecoming 2009? Homecoming is not just about alumni—there are plenty of fun and free events for students. Homecoming Weekend 2009 kicks off this Friday, November 6, 2009, with Alumni Avenue, a giant block party on Stanford Circle, at 6:30 P.M. and a parade down Stanford Drive at 7:00 P.M. Admission to Alumni Avenue is $40 which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and refreshments. Various student organizations will participate in the parade, showcasing creative floats.

After the parade, students and alumni will gather at the University Center for a pep rally at 8:15 P.M. and around Lake Osceola at 9:00 P.M. for the annual boat burning and fireworks show. At 9:30 P.M., Common will perform with special guests, the Wailers, in a free concert on the University Center Green.

Law school alumni will host various events throughout the weekend at places like the Lowe Art Museum and the Riviera Country Club. Students are encouraged to contact Michelle Alvarez in the alumni office (malvarez@law.miami.edu) to volunteer.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the Student Bar Association will host a Homecoming Tailgate at Landshark Stadium (Lot West 33). Law students are invited to join the SBA as they celebrate Homecoming and the last SBA tailgate of the year. The Miami Hurricanes (6-2) face off against the Virginia Cavaliers (3-5) at noon.

Have a great Homecoming Weekend! Go Canes!
