UM Law alumna Julie Braman Kane, a partner with Colson Hicks Eidson in Coral Gables, was recently appointed to lead the Miami-Dade chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), an independent voluntary bar association of Florida women lawyers with 23 chapters throughout the state.


In previous roles, Kane has served as secretary, treasurer, and newsletter editor of the Miami-Dade FAWL chapter. She has over 15 years experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, commercial and class action litigation. In addition, she has handled multiple multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements involving significant injury.


Adding to her law practice, Kane is actively involved in the American Association for Justice (AAJ), where she serves on the board of governors, the Justice PAC Board of Trustees, and the National Board of Advocates Board of Trustees. She also previously served on the AAJ’s Executive Committee and Budget Committee, and chaired both its Liability Section and Women’s Caucus. The cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Book Award in Commercial Law II, is a recent recipient of the AAJ’s Marie Lambert, Joe Tonahill, and Weideman Wysocki Awards.


Moreover, Kane is a member of the board of directors of the Florida Justice Association, where she has chaired the Women’s Caucus and the New Lawyers Division. Kane also serves as a commissioner of the Florida Elections Commission.
