After serving a term as the chair of the Equal Justice Works National Advisory Committee, Marni Lennon, the assistant dean for public interest and pro bono at the University of Miami School of Law, has been elected to continue as the committee’s chair for a second one-year term beginning in June 2009.

The National Advisory Committee supports the public interest programs of law schools around the nation. It works with the EJW team in Washington, D.C., to coordinate the organization’s annual conference and career fair. The committee also responds to issues and concerns with law schools, educates students and law school professionals about resources through EJW, and supports the goals of EJW through various initiatives and campaigns.

Dean Lennon says EJW is at the core of her role as assistant dean for public interest and pro bono at UM Law, where she founded and directs the HOPE Public Interest Resource Center, an initiative that supports more than 25 outreach and advocacy projects across South Florida. “I am so proud of the ways in which Equal Justice Works strives to help law schools establish and strengthen public interest programs, provide professional development and training for students and lawyers, and provide support for public service through pro bono work and financial support,” she says.
