UM Law alumnus Ervin A. Gonzalez, JD ’85, was recently recognized by Florida Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top 10 attorneys in the state of Florida. 

Gonzalez was selected for his outstanding performance as a Civil Litigation Attorney in Florida.  He has made the top 100 list three years in a row. The recognition adds to a list of accolades from other publications such as Lawyers Weekly USA, which placed him in its 2005 list of top 11 lawyers in the nation; The Daily Business Review, which named him “Most Effective Lawyer in Civil Litigation” in 2005 & 2006; and Hispanic Business Magazine, which named him one of the nation’s 100 most influential Hispanics in 2006. In addition, Gonzalez has consistently been recognized as a leader in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America, Chambers and Partners, Law Dragon 500, and Leading American Attorneys, among others.  

Gonzalez is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Business Litigation by the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He is a partner at the law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson in Miami-Dade County Florida. He is also licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, Texas, Colorado, and New York.  He is currently on the Board of Governors for The Florida Bar, a former member of the National Board of Trustees of The National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He is a former president of the Dade County Bar Association and the Dade County Trial Lawyers Association. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated with honors.  Gonzalez has more than 26 verdicts in excess of $1 million and his areas of expertise include catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, medical malpractice, aviation accidents, trucking accidents, class action litigation and consumer related commercial litigation.
