UM Law alumna Carroll Kelly has been named the Administrative Judge of the Domestic Violence Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida

UM Law alumna and County Court Judge Carroll Kelly, JD ’89, has been named the Administrative Judge of the Domestic Violence Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. In the new role, Judge Kelly will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of this division, including civil and criminal court operations.

Judge Kelly has served in the Domestic Violence division since 1999.  She is a leader in judicial education in the areas of domestic violence, trial skills and criminal law issues.  Since 2003, she has been responsible for teaching all new judges in the State of Florida domestic violence law at the Florida Judicial College, Phase I and II.  In addition, Judge Kelly is a faculty member of the Florida College of Advanced Judicial Studies and Florida Judicial College. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law, where she teaches trial advocacy in the Litigation Skills Program.

Judge Kelly currently chairs the Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, the Domestic Violence Court Operations Council and is a steering committee member of Bridging Families and Communities. She also serves as the president of the Conference of County Court Judges of the State of Florida.  Her service to the community and the legal profession has garnered several awards including the Miami-Dade County “Women Who Make a Difference Award,” the Law School’s “Thomas Davidson Award,” and the Conference of County Court Judges of the State of Florida’s “Harvey Ford Award.”
