UM Law alumna Isabel C. Diaz, JD ’04, has been named among the 2009 Hispanic Women of Distinction by The Nielsen Company and Latina Style Magazine, the nation’s leading publication for Hispanic women. She is among the 12 honorees who will be recognized at the eighth annual Hispanic Women of Distinction Charity Awards and Luncheon on August 14, 2009 at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.
Hispanic Women of Distinction are selected based on their contributions to the tri-county community while maintaining their culture and traditions. Diaz is an associate at the Miami office of Broad and Cassel. She specializes in complex commercial real estate transactions and commercial lending, and serves on the firm’s Banking and Institutional Lending, Real Estate, and Special Assets practice groups. She is involved with numerous charitable and civic organizations, including the Cuban American Bar Association, which recently acknowledged her as one of their Outstanding Members for 2008. She also serves as guardian ad litem to abused and neglected children, and was named the Guardian Ad Litem Volunteer of the Year for 2008 by the Eleventh Judicial Court’s Division 01. Before earning her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, Diaz studied at Florida International University, earning a summa cum laude Bachelor of Arts degree.
