UM Law Professors Bernard Perlmutter and Bruce J. Winick will participate in the University of Miami's “Mental Health and Juvenile Justice: Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Forensic Cases” conference on January 30, 2009. The conference is being hosted by the University of Miami’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Bankers Club, located at One Biscayne Tower, Miami, FL 33131.


Professors Perlmutter and Winick will speak during a panel titled “Juvenile Shackling: the Legal and Psychological Perspectives.” Marie D. Osborne, assistant public defender of the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida, will join them on the panel. Professors Perlmutter and Winick will also participate in a panel titled “Juvenile Transfer Hearings: Legal and Therapeutic Jurisprudence Perspectives.”

In addition, Professor Winick is co-directing the conference.
