Heidar Atlason, Iceland

Heidar graduated from the University of Iceland in 2000. He received the prestigious Cobb Scholarship, which was endowed by University of Miami Trustee Charles E. Cobb, former Ambassador to Iceland. With the generous support of this scholarship, Heidar completed his LL.M. at the University of Miami in 2002.  He returned to Reykjavik where he is now a partner at LOGOS Legal Services, one of the preeminent international law firms in Iceland, and teaches at the University of Iceland School of Law.  Heidar’s areas of expertise are corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate investments, bankruptcy and contract law.

Violeta Longino is an attorney licensed in Florida and Mexico, and is a member of the International and Cross-Border Transactions Group of the law firm of Holland & Knight in Miami, Florida.  She practices in the areas of corporate and international law, with an emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financial services and formation of business entities in Latin America, Europe, and the United States.  Before joining Holland & Knight, she was an associate in the Miami office of a prominent international law firm and also served as general counsel for the Mexican affiliate of a leading multinational corporation.  Violeta joined the LL.M. program in 2000 and successfully transferred to the J.D. in 2001.

Diego Cesar Bunge is a partner at Estudio Bunge in association with Squire Sanders & Dempsey. He has actively participated in domestic and international complex litigation and arbitration cases, as attorney of one party and as an expert witness. He is a member of the Board of International Scholars, Banking and Finance Law Unit, Center for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary and Westfield College of Law, University of London, and the OAS Working Group for the Drafting of an Inter-American Standard Law for secured transactions. Diego was the Dean of the School of Juridical and Social Sciences, Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales in Argentina in 2004.

 

Sandra Friedrich, Germany

Sandra Friedrich obtained her LL.M. in 2005 after four years of law studies in Cologne and Paris where she focused on international, comparative and European Union law. In May 2008, she completed her J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law after two years of graduate work in the LL.M. and J.D. programs.  Sandra completed internships at the German Consulate General in Los Angeles; Diaz Reus in Miami; and WilmerHale LLP in London. In May 2008, she was selected as the first Visiting Assistant Professor and taught Introduction to German Law at the University of Miami School of Law.

Claudio Finkelstein is a partner at Hasson, Sayeg, Finkelstein, D’Avila e Nelson Pinto Advogados. He is a Professor Doctor of the Post-Graduation program in Law of the International Economic Relations course at PUC/SP, and Coordinator of the sub-area of International Economic Relations Law in the Post-Graduate Course of PUC/SP.  He is also the head of the International Law Department of the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Constitucional and The Instituto Nacional de Contencioso Economico, and co-coordinator of the specialized periodical Revista de Direito Internacional e Economico. Claudio is the author of the book Processo de Formacao de Mercados de Bloco; coordinator and co-author of the book MERCOSUL- Licoes do Period de Transitoredade; and has authored many other articles concerning commercial, corporate, constitutional and international law in specialized periodicals.
