University of Miami School of Law has graduated over 1000 alumni who are living and working in more than 90 countries around the world. UM also has a select group of American Law students who have chosen to focus their studies in Inter-American, International or Ocean and Coastal Law.
Because these LL.M. programs at UM are relatively small and selective, we are able to provide a tailor-made program that focuses on the individual student, where the student creates a course of study that matches his or her own academic and professional goals. The students all graduate with an excellent foundation in the law and a broader perspective about the world in which we live.
Our faculty members take great pride in developing good working relationships with students, and are available to discuss course materials as well as questions related to the study of law in general. Some of our students are selected to serve as research assistants to our international faculty. In addition, some students may apply and be appointed by the Dean as a Visiting Associate Professor for one year after the completion of the LL.M. program. Our LL.M. programs offer full time and part time options, as well as a seven-semester option for students in their third year of law school.
Students choose Miami for a variety of reasons, either for its location as the gateway between the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, the faculty with focus in international law, our renowned library, or the individual attention provided by our office.
