On Saturday, March 20, 2004 Ploppy Palace Productions and Tobacco Road will be hosting a concert to raise funds for Audubon of Florida and The Sierra Club Miami Group for their campaign to protect the Everglades. As part of
this three stage extravaganza, some of South Florida's top bands, spoken word artists and community activists will join together for to raise awareness to this vital natural resource and what it means to the people of South Florida.

As a testament to the diversity of supporters for this cause, there will be a broad variety of musical styles including jazz, rock, reggae, folk, vocal harmonies, Peruvian, Latin, funk, hip-hop, experimental, tribal rhythms, world beat fusion, psychedelic grooves and various interactive jams.

Jerrods Door, Little Atlas, Out Of The Anonymous, Sweetbone, Inner Voice, Rivers Of Time, Dinosaur Construction Unit, Parlaphone Catastrophe, RL Five, Pale Blue Dot, Guru Dragon, The Dharma Bomb, Transcendence, Unison, Kuyayky, atripthroughthemind, DreadCrazy, R_Garcia, Tom Neilson, John Emil, Charissa Johnson, Grant Livingston, Ann Hoffman, Crystal Brown, Anthony Nelson, John Brown, Val C. Wisecracker & The Walking Catfish and Deep Water Willy will be showcasing original music.

Alonso, Monica Jones, Chris "Da Imperial" Deon, Oscar Fuentes and Ellen Thea will be presenting innovative poetry with musical accompaniment.

Mark Schusheim will be offering a satirical commentary about history and the progressive attitude towards the environment.

TranZenDance Dance Company will be performing a variety of dance and movement pieces to energetic, rhythmic percussion and ambient tones. Carlos Rodriguez will be rendering a live painting demonstration to visually complement the music.

Shannon Mayorga and April Gromnicki from Audubon of Florida and Rod Jude, Chairperson from The Sierra Club Miami Group will be speaking about the campaign to manage the Everglades region with greater environmental sensitivity and better long term planning. Other speakers will include members of the Green Party of Dade County as well as a selection of special guests.

Audubon of Florida, The Sierra Club Miami Group, the Green Party of Dade County and other community organizations will have information booths with handouts and contacts to help educate about social issues and the environmental risk that threatens the natural balance of the Everglades.

The event will work to raise funds and awareness for the Everglades by combining the distinctive resources of Audubon of Florida, The Sierra Club Miami Group and a selection of other organizations as they collectively work together for this common goal. Currently, the Everglades is one of the most threatened natural habitat in the western hemisphere. Residential development, water management and agricultural use have shifted natural water patterns and have altered the vitality of the ecosystem. With an alarming number of people moving into South Florida every year, we need to come together and help to protect the Everglades for our survival.

In addition there will be vendors and small businesses promoting and selling their merchandise, including The Wallflower Gallery, Emerald City Imports, Kind Street and selected independent corporations.
