Everglades restoration project starts today

Everglades restoration -- the part that involves the physical moving of dirt -- officially starts today with work to restore 55,000 acres of a long-defunct development outside Naples called Southern Golden Gate Estates. Gov. Jeb Bush will take part in a groundbreaking for the first of 68 projects planned as part of the $8 billion state-federal restoration effort that will span several decades.
