Announcing Dates & Call for
Abstracts:
Florida Bay
& Greater Everglades Restoration Science Conferences
Dear Colleague,
The Florida Bay and Adjacent Marine Systems Science Conference and the Greater Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (G.E.E.R.) Science Conference will, for the first time ever, be held in conjunction to provide a joint forum for the exchange of information among physical, biological and social scientists. The structure and integrity of each event will remain independent as it has in the past, with independent meeting sessions, abstract books and scientific reports.
The Joint Conference on the Science and Restoration of the Greater Everglades and Florida Bay Ecosystem - "From Kissimmee to the Keys" will be conducted April 13-18, 2003 at the Westin Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Florida, just 25 miles from Tampa.

One registration fee will be charged for the entire week, and we encourage you to attend both segments of this joint program to take advantage of this opportunity to network with colleagues in all fields of science conducting research on the South Florida ecosystem.
The conference web site will serve as the primary resource to provide you with current program information. The web page will continue to be updated as more information becomes available, so be sure to check it periodically.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Scientists involved in the restoration effort of the Greater Everglades, Florida Bay, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, the Biscayne Bay area and the Southwest Florida Shelf are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts describing their research projects and statistics measuring current results.
Special consideration will be given to work that synthesizes across disciplines. Abstract submissions will be used to select oral and poster presentations, and ALL abstracts, both oral and poster, will be published in the respective conference book of abstracts. Abstracts will also be posted on the web site following the conference.
Abstracts are due no later than January 10, 2003 and must be submitted electronically via the conference website. Detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to prepare, format and submit your abstract are posted under the CALL FOR ABSTRACTS section of the web site. It is important that you follow these directions carefully, so please be sure to read the abstract submission guidelines thoroughly, and email me if you have any questions.
SPECIAL REQUEST
Because of the large number of abstract submissions involved with this joint endeavor, we would like to make a special request. If you have your abstract prepared and finalized before the January 10, 2003 deadline, we ask that you please submit your abstract in advance to allow more time for processing.
We look forward to working with you and to facilitating an interactive and productive conference. If you know of others who may be interested in attending, please forward this email to them as soon as possible.
On an added note, because many researchers appear on several contact lists, it is very possible you will receive more than one announcement. We appreciate your understanding if you receive multiple email notices.
Last but not least, please take just a moment to click on the web site link and review the conference details. WEBSITE: http://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/jc
