New proxy server for remote access to the law library subscription databases.
Several of the subscription databases available on the Law Library website allow
access only by authorized users, with users authenticated through their access to the
Law School network on campus. With the new proxy server, you can also get to these
databases from home or elsewhere.
To access the databases from outside the Law School, just take the following steps:
- Go to the Subscription Databases page. You can reach it by going to the Law Library home page
at http://library.law.miami.edu/ and clicking on the
"Subscription Databases" link on the left hand navigation bar, or by going directly to
http://library.law.miami.edu/databases.php.
- The first time you click on the link for any restricted database you'll be prompted to
enter your own Law School network username and password. You should enter the same username
and password you use to access your Law School network account. Once you've authenticated
in a session, you should not need to do it again. If you close your browser or sign off, you'll
need to authenticate again after that.
- You may notice a few databases that require a special additional password to gain access
(e.g., the United Nations Official Documents Service). The easiest way to get to the passwords is to click on the Password link for that database on the Subscription Database page.
