International Arbitration Scholarship for Young ICCA Member

The University of Miami School of Law and Young ICCA are pleased to announce that a competition is now open for a full-tuition scholarship available to be awarded to a top Young ICCA member to attend the University of Miami's one-year postgraduate LLM program in international arbitration.

PROCESS:
For this competition, candidates must submit an online application** for the LL.M. program. They must also submit the following documents to intl-llm@law.miami.edu by Friday, March 23, 2012:

  • TOEFL score (minimum of 92)
  • personal statement*
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • official transcripts
  • copy of diploma
  • resume
  • a written essay of no more than 7500 words. The essay should also include an executive summary of no more than 500 words. The candidate should select from one of the four topics listed below:

    • "The Past, Present and Future of International Arbitration and Adjudication"
    • "Recent developments in ICSID arbitration – time to think about alternatives?"
    • "How Do We Design for Legitimacy?"
    • "Arbitrariness — Were the Swiss Wrong to Think They Were Wrong?"

*Candidates must indicate in their personal statements that they are applying to the UM/Young ICCA scholarship and should include "UM/Young ICCA scholarship" in the subject line of any e-mails to int-llm@law.miami.edu. **The application fee will be waived and candidates should list "check" as form of payment when submitting their applications online.

The candidate selected will be announced by Professor Albert Jan van den Berg at the 21st ICCA Congress in Singapore on June 10 – June 13, 2012.
