The Law Firm of Shutts and Bowen hosted a firm night for the e-mentoring program, welcoming attorney mentors and mentees from area high schools. The teens, accompanied by their teachers, enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with attorneys from various areas of practice and learn about life as a lawyer. The e-mentoring program is directed by Benjamin Wilson, an attorney at Shutts and Bowen and UM LLM graduate from 2004. In his remarks to the students, Wilson said, "The law is everywhere - whether we are talking about a home, a traffic incident, a business or anything else, a lawyer is probably nearby." He added, "Take advantage of this opportunity to talk to the lawyers who are here. This is your chance to find out what life as a lawyer really is like." John Rooney, Jr., Partner at Shutts & Bowen was kind enough to take some mentees on a tour of the office. Marni Lennon, Assistant Dean for Public Interest and Pro Bono and Director of HOPE Public Interest Resource Center said, "It is not only wonderful to participate in this program as a mentor, but incredibly fulfilling to see our graduates leading programs such as these and making the time to be involved in our community." Kevin Probst, post-grad Fellow at HOPE also serves as a mentor to one young man who said, "Kevin is wonderful! From the moment we met, we hit it off and I am so excited to learn more from him. "
