According to rules established by the Florida Bar, students are not able to practice law without the supervision of attorneys. HOPE is, therefore, unable to provide direct services to clients in need. For legal assistance in Miami-Dade County, please contact one of the organizations below.

-Will only take Guatemalan and Salvadoran cases.
-Will not represent detained aliens.
-Will take Asylum cases.

 

Catholic Charities Legal Services, Inc.- (305) 373-1073

Catholic Charities Legal Services, Archdiocese of Miami, Inc (CCLS) provides professional immigration services and attorney representation before the Citizenship and Immigration Service, the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.

 

CCLS provides pro bono services to individuals and family to those who qualify based on income, eligibility status, and the availability of resources. For those who do not qualify for free services, CCLS may represent you based on a sliding fee scale. For those who can afford a private attorney, CCLS encourages you to seek the services of a qualified immigration attorney. CCLS suggests that you utilize the services of members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. We will be happy to refer you to a qualified immigration attorney should we determine that we cannot help you.

 

Free initial screenings, provided on a first-come, first-served basis, take place at their main office located at 150 SE 2nd Avenue, Suite 200, Miami, Florida 33131 at the Washington Mutual Bank Building between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

-Representation limited to Miami Immigration Court.

  • LegalLine - The Legal Aid Society is fully staff, free legal service provider for the indigent in Dade County. Legal Aid was established by 1939 and chartered in 1949. It is the oldest provider of free legal services in Dade County and is has eleven full-time lawyers who primarily handle family matters which involve children.

  • Legal Aid Society of the Dade County Bar Association- (305) 371-2220
    The Legal Aid Society represents indigent persons in matters relating to family law and domestic violence.

  • Legal Services of Greater Miami – (305) 576-0080
    Legal Services provides free legal services to clients who live in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties; are a citizen, permanent resident or have other acceptable immigration status; and have a household income below 125% of the federal poverty income guidelines.

  • Miami Dade Workers Center – (305) 759-8717
    The Workers' Center engages in grassroots campaigns, public education, training and advocacy on behalf of low-income Miami families.

  • Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) Program, serving as its fundraising arm, with the goal of ensuring that a Guardian Ad Litem represent every abused child in Miami-Dade County.

  • Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center - (305) 573-1106
    The not-for-profit Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center fights for the human rights of immigrants of all nationalities. FIAC aims to protect and promote the basic human rights of immigrants of all nationalities through direct legal services to individuals and impact advocacy work.

    This website will provide you with information about the Public Defender Office’s responsibilities, qualifications and experience, as well as the innovative and cost-effective programs that they have instituted. You will also find valuable information about the criminal justice system and what you might expect should you or someone you know be in need of legal representation.

    The State Attorney’s Office has three main prosecution divisions felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile, with specialized units and programs that support the functions of those divisions.For assistance in finding an attorney in Florida, please contact one of the organizations below.

  • Florida Law Help
    FloridaLawHelp.org is a guide to free legal information and legal services in Florida.

  • Florida Bar Low-fee Referral Panel
    The Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service and local bar association lawyer referral services make it easy for you to contact a lawyer to handle your particular type of legal problem. You will receive a half-hour low-cost consultation.

  • Florida Legal Services, Inc. (FLS)
    FLS, a statewide non-profit organization, provides civil legal assistance to indigent persons through case consultation, litigation, technical assistance, and training to local legal assistance programs.

  • Put Something Back Pro Bono Program
    The Put Something Back Pro Bono Project is the official program for providing pro bono, or free legal assistance to the needy population of Miami-Dade County. It is designed to increase access to the civil legal system by serving as an umbrella agency for referral to all other legal service providers and as a clearinghouse for attorneys who volunteer to help the indigent of the community.

  • Voices For Children Foundation, Inc. / Guardian Ad Litem Program (GAL) – (305) 324-5678
    Voices was founded in 1984 by three Juvenile Court Judges who were moved by the vulnerability of the abused and neglected children who entered their courtrooms. Realizing these children lacked even the most basic necessities, the judges organized a group of GAL volunteers to administer a small fund of paid fines and donations, which eventually became Voices For Children Foundation. Today, Voices is part of a unique collaboration with the 11th Judicial Circuit
