In September 2007, Former HOPE Fellow Christina Liu began her legal career as an ABA International Intern at Majmudar & Co. in Mumbai, India.  This firm specializes in over fifteen different areas and is an international top-tier law firm. "I am thrilled to have this rare opportunity to work in Mumbai,  one of the fastest growing business and legal environments in the world, with the ability to work on interesting projects in a multitude of practice areas including venture capital and private equity, outsourcing, and antitrust," Christina told us. "It will be amazing to experience a new culture, as well as  to work on cutting edge issues that have global consequences." She plans on taking the Illinois Bar during the summer and would like to settle in Washington, D.C., or in Chicago upon her return from India in November.  Christina's dream is to consult internationally or in an in-house counsel capacity and, with this internship, she will begin that path.  Additionally, she would like to work on corporate governance and corporate responsibility issues in a firm environment.  When asked about her continuing commitment to the public interest, she said: "In working in corporate responsibility, I believe public interest work can be done through public-private partnerships, changing existing policies and practices to improve corporate behavior. Experience in the private firm realm is a necessary component to understanding existing corporate life. I believe this position will enable me to gain more exposure to a large international firm and large Indian and multinational corporations."  HOPE is so proud of Christina and we wish her all the best of luck!!!
