HOPE Fellow Sara Neugroschel Headed to JAG
Home  /  HOPE Home  /  Donate a Day

As a HOPE Fellow, Sara Neugroschel spent the summer after her 1L year exploring two areas of public interest law. After spending six weeks working with MidPenn Legal Services, a non-profit public interest firm dedicated to providing equal access to justice to low-income persons, Sara further developed her legal advocacy skills with the Berks County Public Defender’s Office. This summer, Sara has been selected for the United States Air Force’s JAG (Judge Advocate General) program.

Based at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, Sara will work under the supervision of the JAG attorneys who are all members of the United States military. As a summer associate, however, Sara noted that she will be classified as a temporary full-time civilian federal employee. “My attention will be especially focused on the preparation of criminal cases by conducting legal research, writing briefs and opinions, conducting investigations and interviewing witnesses.” In addition, Sara will assist the attorneys who counsel and represent airmen and their family members in personal legal matters such as family law, estate planning and tax. “I am looking forward to gaining more legal experience in the public sector and I am excited to see what the summer has in store for me.”

Recently, Sara has volunteered to serve as project leader for the Workers’ Misclassification Project, a new collaboration between HOPE and the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center. Visit the HOPE website for more information about the project and an upcoming training.
